Like it or hate it, the dad shoe trend is here to stay, and following the immense success of the Yeezy 700 Wave Runner, Adidas is back at it for November 2018 with this equally chunky, equally eyebrow-raising Unity Purple Yung 1. Inspired by, and a homage to the legendary 1997 Adidas Falcon Dorf, but very much reformed for a modern style, this shoe looks to give a diversity of choice for its customers to go alongside the Yeezy catalogue of a similar ilk. The restructured tongue and unique Adidas branding ensure that this silhouette seamlessly fits into today's championed chunky sneaker aesthetic with ease. Painted in a bold ‘Triple Purple' colourway, this Yung 1 is composed of a vast array of materials, including nubuck, mesh, and suede, on top of a comfortable foam midsole. The shoe's outsole features an Adidas torsion plate for added support, and to round it all off, Three Stripe branding adorns the side panels for the signature Adidas look. The Yung 1 clearly takes inspiration from the Yeezy model, borrowing from Yeezy 500's and 700's that have been so successful, but make no mistake, this shoe is not just a lazy imitator or a parody. It stands alone with its own true potential for success and deserves to stand toe to toe with its distant Yeezy cousins and to be taken seriously. Right now I challenge you to find a Yeezy in purple, that's what you tell the naysayers.
